Hackney Wick, England-based Sention Technologies, a deeptech company developing next-gen diagnostic tools for the battery industry, has secured £3.7M (approximately €4.3M) in a seed funding round.
The round was led by Twin Path Ventures, with participation from Doral Energy-Tech Ventures, Endgame Capital, Energy Revolution Ventures, G.K. Goh Ventures, Green Angel Ventures, Third Sphere, and the UK Innovation and Science Seed Fund.
Twin Path Ventures is a pre-seed venture capital fund founded to back highly technical, intelligent, and committed teams bringing deep tech advances to industry.
Led by partners John Spindler, Nick Slater, and Katie Lockwood, the fund invests £10M annually in promising early-stage companies, with a focus on fostering regional innovation and driving transformative impact across the UK.
John Spindler of Twin Path Ventures says, “Sention has enormous potential to transform the way batteries are developed, manufactured, and used. Their technology uses the power of machine learning to predict how batteries perform, age, and fail. As an AI specialist fund, we are excited by the tremendous potential that AI has to shape the battery industry.”
Fund utilisation
The UK company will use the funds to accelerate the commercialisation of its Senturion ultrasound instruments that offer real-time, noninvasive 3D scanning of the internal structure of batteries, as well as its AI-driven data fusion software, Sentinel.
The company will also invest in R&D for its next-generation product designed to integrate directly into production lines.
Additional funding will support international customer acquisition, enabling the company to serve a broader spectrum of battery manufacturers and energy innovators.
Sention CEO, Dan Brett, says, “This funding represents a significant milestone for Sention as we continue to innovate at the forefront of battery diagnostics. We are grateful to our investors for supporting our mission to enable the electrochemical power revolution by enhancing the performance, quality, and safety of batteries.” “One of the reasons we have managed to accomplish so much so far stems from being founded within the Prosemino venture builder, which provides labs and expertise to turbocharge early-stage companies toward success and VC investment.”
Sention Technologies: Revolutionising diagnostics in the electrochemical industry
Led by Dan Brett, Sention has developed a proprietary ultrasonic scanning technology that provides insights into the internal structure of batteries.
They specialise in the use of ultrasound and X-rays, combined with artificial intelligence, to help develop next-generation batteries, make gigafactories more efficient, and ensure higher quality and safer batteries
The company’s contactless technology allows customers to ‘see inside’ batteries by listening to them.
By combining this rapid and low-cost technique with its AI-driven data fusion software, the company predicts cell health, grades batteries, and forecasts failure.
These capabilities empower battery manufacturers, technology developers, and fleet integrators to reduce waste, enhance performance, and improve safety.
