Swedish AI startup Pixel Systems has raised €2.7 million ($3.1 million) in a Seed round to accelerate their commercial initiatives and continue building the technology that helps identify AI-generated and manipulated images, documents, and other digital material.
The round was led by Unconventional Ventures, at a pre-money valuation of approximately €18 million ($21 million).
“Generative AI has made it extremely cheap to fabricate evidence. The problem is that almost every digital process still rests on the assumption that what people submit is authentic. That assumption is disappearing,” says Robel Efrem, co-founder and CEO of Pixel.
Pixel’s funding follows other European investments in digital trust and fraud-prevention technology reported by EU-Startups in 2026, including Sweden’s Bits (€12 million), Denmark’s Flare (€3.6 million), France’s Marble (€6.5 million) and MokN (€12.9 million), Spain’s Zepo Intelligence (€12.8 million), and UK/Germany-based Diligent AI (€2.1 million).
Together, these rounds represent approximately €49.9 million in funding, excluding Pixel’s €2.7 million Seed round, across companies addressing different aspects of verification, fraud prevention and financial crime.

EU-Startups previously covered Efrem as co-founder and CEO of Swedish esports platform Challengermode, which raised €10.1 million in 2020.
“We believe the ability to verify digital information will become as natural a part of tomorrow’s infrastructure as cybersecurity is today. That a Swedish company has the opportunity to take a leading position in this field is exactly the kind of development we want to help make possible,” adds Nora Bavey, General Partner at Unconventional Ventures.
Founded in 2026 in Stockholm, Pixel develops proprietary technology to detect AI-generated and manipulated digital content. By combining several independent forensic analysis methods, Pixel helps companies verify images, documents, and other digital material before it is used as the basis for decisions, payouts, or other critical processes.
The team behind Pixel consists of senior engineers, AI specialists, and competitive programmers.
In Pixel’s internal tests, the platform has achieved a detection rate of 99.98 percent for AI-generated and manipulated material, reportedly placing the technology at a world-leading level.
Pixel is used today in businesses where digital material forms the basis for financial decisions, including insurance, FinTech, e-commerce, and professional services.
Use cases include manipulated damage photos in insurance claims, fabricated receipts and invoices, AI-generated product images in refund fraud, and manipulated material in financial or legal processes.
“The internet was built for a world where an image could largely be treated as proof. That world no longer exists. Now every company that receives images, receipts, and documents from its customers needs to be able to check that material before money is paid out,” says Robel Efrem.
The funding comes just months after the company was founded. Three weeks after its commercial launch, Pixel has reached its first €89k ($100k) in contracted recurring revenue.
